Baywatch launched throughout holiday

ZERO-DROWNING TARGET

LINGAYEN– Baywatch by trained lifeguards and members of the Water Search and Rescue  (WASAR) of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office  (PDRRMO) will continue in the Lingayen beach this yuletide season till the first week of the January.

Avenix Arenas, PDRRMO spokesperson, teams were deployed in several strategic areas along the Lingayen beach since Christmas Eve to respond to emergency situations.

The beach is traditionally teeming with visitors during long holidays.

They will man their respective posts from watchtowers strategically located in the beach.

Ambulances manned by paramedics are ‘also on standby to immediately bring transport drowning victims to the hospital.

Arenas said the PDRRMO appealed to all local government units along the Lingayen Gulf, from San Fabian to Bolinao and those facing the West Philippine Sea from Bolinao to Dasol, to also mobilize their respective municipal disaster risk reduction and management teams.

The PDRRMO targets zero-drowning in all the beaches of Pangasinan this yuletide season.

A no-night swimming rule is already being enforced in Lingayen Beach.
