6th Espino Chess Cup, Dec. 28-30

DAGUPAN CITY—The provincial government and the Pangasinan Chess League (PCL) is set to stage the 6th Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr. Cup Open Chess Tournament.

The event, sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP), will take place on Dec. 28, 29 and 30 at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center in Lingayen town.

Cash prizes in the Open Category are: P15,000 (1st ), P12,000 (2nd), P10,000 (3rd), P7,000 (4th), P5,000 (5th) and P3,000 (6th-10th), P2,000 (11th-15th), and P1,000(16th-20th).

The Kiddie Category (14 and Under) will receive the cash prizes: P5,000 (1st), P3,000 (2nd), P2,000 (3rd) P1,000 (4th), P750(5th), P500 (6th-10th).

There will be no pooling of prizes in both categories.

A special cash prize of P1,000 will go to the top female, top local player, and the top senior player. The top scorer in the lowest age group,(5 years old and below) and the youngest participant, will receive P500 each.

Registration fees (non-residents) P300 in Open Category , P200 in Kiddie Category; Residents , P150 in Open Category, P100 in Kiddie Category.

Registration is free for the participants in the 4th Gov. Amado T. Espino Jr. Chess Clinic, International Masters and Grandmasters.

No registration will be accepted on Dec. 29. Participants will be provided with free billeting rooms.
