“It’s More Fun In Dagupan!” for day care kids

DAGUPAN CITY— It was like a blockbuster movie. The Disney movie Planes: Fire and Rescue became an instant hit at CSI the City Mall Cinema here on Thursday as thousands of day care students, their parents included, lined up for the annual  free movie viewing .

The city, a nominee for the search for Most Child-Friendly City in the country, offers various perks for children including the “Libreng Sine Para sa Batang Day Care Center under the MBTF Loves, Cares, Heals, Educates our Children Program.

CSI Cinema revealed that approximately 4,000 people, 2,500 of whom were day care students availed the free movie viewing benefit.

“The program for the daycare students aims to support and care for the children of our city”, said Lorna Fernandez, the project development officer III of City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD).

She added that helping the children develop the social skills is one of the objectives of their office and  watching child-friendly movies will help support the cognitive development of these children.

Aside from providing entertainment for the kids, Mayor Belen Fernandez is promoting the importance of family bonding which is vital to child development.

“More than anything else, family bonding plays a major role when it comes to proper rearing of the child ”, explained Fernandez.

To her, this is the continuing testament of the city’s love and care for the children of Dagupan.

The project was made possible by public- private partnership of the local government, the CSWD, Jack & Jill and CSI Inc.

Meanwhile, to complete the movie viewing experience, snacks were also served to both the kids and their parents.)

“We’re happy because even us parents get to watch a movie and have a snacks for free ”, said one mother who accompanied her child. (CIO)
