LET’S go back to work!

This was the terse response of Gov. Amado T. Espino, Jr. to local media’s queries about his next political agenda further explaining further his reasons for giving his blessings to his son Board Member Amado III also known as Pogi, to bid for the gubernatorial post when he exits in 2016, and the family’s subsequent resignation from the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

He reiterated his thoughts as he had written in his letter of resignation as member of the NPC  in explaining himself.

“As elected leader of the entire province of Pangasinan, the undersigned Governor finds it grossly improper, and totally out of place, to announce political preferences, or to actively take part in any partisan activity, at this point in time…” the letter stated.

He said that there is a proper time for politics especially for incumbent officials who have sworn to serve everyone regardless of their party affiliations, and that’s what he intends to do.

The governor also said that he had to confirm in recent media interviews that his son will run as governor in the next elections because there are people who are taking advantage of his silence to push their political agenda.

Espino, also made it known that contrary to the impression given by former Con. Mark Cojuangco that he was not grateful for what the party had done for him, he said the Espinos are “sincerely grateful to the leaders and members of the NPC for their valuable support and guidance in the course of our stay in the party.”

His and the rest of his family had to resign from the party “to give NPC leaders and members a free hand in pursuing their agenda.

Espino said his resignation closes that political chapter in his life  and reiterated his vow to continue fulfilling his duty as the chief executive of Pangasinan. (PIO/RRB)
