THE Dagupan City Treasurer’s Office has extended the deadline for the payment of real property tax to August 15 to give real property owners more time to settle their obligation to the city.

City Treasurer Romelita F. Alcantara said Mayor Belen T. Fernandez approved the extension to give the taxpayers ample time to settle their obligations in view of the difficulties caused by monsoon rains in the past two weeks.

Alcantara warned that the city government will send notices of delinquency, demand letters and warrants of levy should owners fail to pay their taxes on due date.

She said 80 percent of the regular taxpayers have already settled their real property taxes.

From January to June this year, the city has already collected P8.6 million from delinquent properties.

Alcantara is hopeful that the city will be able to collect P19 million at the end of the year after due notice of delinquency has been given to those listed as delinquents for being unable to pay their current and previous obligations on their real property with the city. (CIO/ Joseph C. Bacani)
