BARANGAYS AWASH WITH CASH

IF you think your barangay in Dagupan is poor, think again.

From 2010 to 2013, the 31 barangays in the city received a total of P31,031,000 in financial assistance from the city government  under the administration of former Mayor Benjamin Lim.

The financial assistance was in addition to the internal revenue allotment that each barangay received from the national government.

The top beneficiaries of fund assistance with more than a million were Barangays Pantal (P2.37 million), Caranglaan (P1.85 million), Poblacion Oeste (P1.745 million), Bonuan Binloc (P1.57 million), Pogo Chico (P1.55 million), Pogo Grande and Barangay II-lll (P1.37 million each), Pugaro Suit (P1.35 million), Lasip Chico (P1.150 million), Herrero-Perez and Lucao (P1.2 million each), and Mangin (P1.05 million).

The other barangays received the following:

  • P690,000 – Salapingao
  • P576,000 – Bonuan Gueset
  • P450,000 each for Tambac, Barangay I, Lomboy, Mamalingling

The more than P31 million received by the barangays did not include the P12.153 million received by the Liga ng Barangay headed by its president then, now Councilor Guillermo Vallejos.

The Sanggunian Kabataan Federation, consisting of SK chapters in the city, headed by Chester Gonzales of Bonuan Binloc SK, received P1.050 million. The amount has not been liquidated.

According to the most recent auditor’s report, none of the barangays have liquidated these amounts.

As protocol required, the funds were received by the barangay treasurers.
