Suspected drug pusher shot dead

LINGAYEN–A suspected drug pusher listed in the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) watchlist was shot dead at 8:40 p.m. Wednesday in Barangay Poblacion East Asingan

The fatality was identified as Jonathan Alejo, alias “Katan”, 32, who died on the spot from several gunshot wounds in different parts of his body.

A spat over drug trade or love triangle is being eyed by the Asingan police as the motive behind the killing.

An investigation showed the victim was brought to Sinapog Bridge by Jerome Niedo, 27, a tricycle driver, allegedly to meet an unidentified visitor from Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.

Upon reaching the Sinapog Bridge, two unidentified male persons were waiting by their Honda 155 TMX motorcycle that had no plate number.

Niedo told the police the victim approached one of the suspects who was standing while the other was seated on the motorcycle. Niedo remained seated in the tricycle and watched his passenger.

It didn’t take long before Niedo saw the victim and the suspect exchanging blows and then he heard several shots fired..

Niedo quickly sped away in his tricycle and proceeded to the victim’s relatives to inform them about the incident while the suspects fled on board their motorcycle going towards Sta. Maria town.

A follow-up investigation conducted by the Asingan Police Station revealed that the victim was involved in the illegal drugs trade whose name appeared in the BADAC watch list.

Alejo was categorized as pusher/user and was reported to constantly abscond with collections from sale of shabu.

Recovered from the crime scene were a Caliber.38 revolver with markings of Smith and Wesson, with two live ammunition in its cylinder believed to be owned by the victim, six empty shells for Cal. 9mm, two empty shells for cal.45, one live ammunition for Cal. 45, two deformed slugs for Cal.45 and one deformed slug of unknown caliber.

Love triangle is also being looked into as the victim was being linked to a woman married to a retired policeman from Cabugao, Ilocos Sur.
