LINGAYEN–A song for Pangasinan.

The Pangasinan hymn, the first in the province’s long history, was played for the first time before provincial employees during the regular Monday morning flag raising ceremony in front of the Capitol building.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. said the hymn, entitled “Pangasinan Aking Yaman“, reminds Pangasinenses of their rich history, vast natural resources and love for their province, and hails the onset of economic progress spawned by a united people.

Commissioned by Espino, the song was composed, arranged and sang by Raul “Insiong” Tamayo, a veteran Pangasinense radio announcer and alternative music singer.

The lyrics are originally in Pangasinan, but the translation in Pilipino is in the works.

Espino said the plan is to have it sung in schools, during provincial, municipal and city programs, and regularly played over the radio.

Espino, during Monday’s flag ceremony, again called on employees to maintain dignity in their public service responsibilities saying, “There is no small or big player here because everybody has a role to play and he or she should play it properly”.#
