BAYAMBANG –  Three  employees  of  the  Municipal Assessors  Office are now in  hot water  following the  allegations  of a  lot  owner  that he was asked to pay “extra” to facilitate the titling of his property

The complainant, whose name is still being withheld, said when he went to the Assessor’s Office to have his property titled, the three employees, two of whom are female employees, demanded money from him to pay for their “services” in tilting of his lot.

But to his disappointment, his property remained untitled a year after he was asked to fork over the extra fee.

The identities of the suspects are being withheld pending completion of the investigation.

However,  Municipal  Assessor  Annie  de Leon clarified  that it is the  Register  of Deeds  and  the  Department of Environment and Natural Resources, not the  assessors  office that issues titles for lots.

De Leon  said  her  office  will  be  open to any complaint against whosoever of her employees  but added that due process must be observed even as she assured  the complainant  that  her office will not tolerate  any wrong doing by any of her personnel.

“While the investigation is going on, I will recommend to the higher authority the preventive suspension of the employees in question to erase any cloud of doubt once and for all,” she said. – APE
