Prov’l Gov’t distributes PhilHealth cards anew in Binmaley and Sison
Lingayen–More and more indigent Pangasinenses are enjoying hospital privileges through the PhilHealth cards sponsored by the provincial government and distributed to various municipalities in Pangasinan to further provide health services to the poor populace of the province.
Some 1,548 PhilHealth cards were distributed to the towns of Binmaley and Sison, 386 of them are new enrollees while 1,162 have renewed their membership.
As of today, there are 111,055 active PhilHealth cardholders sponsored by the provincial government.
Last year, the province has enrolled 265,000 indigent families through the sponsorship of other local government units (LGUs) and non-government entities. This has earned for Pangasinan the number one spot in the entire country with the most number of sponsored PhilHealth enrollees for indigent families.
It will be recalled that in year 2006, only 26,000 indigent families had PhilHealth cards combining the sponsorship of the provincial government and other LGUs in Pangasinan.
“PhilHealth is a small card that gives big relief to the sick and indigent people in the community,” said Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr., who joined the team of the Provincial Population Office (PPO), Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) and Executive Assistant Ramon Morden in the distribution.
VG Calimlim said the provincial chief executive has continuously set his sights on uplifting the living condition of Pangasinenses by implementing health programs to fully realize its goal of transforming Pangasinan as the “home of the healthiest Filipinos.”
Meanwhile, Executive Asst. Ramon Morden, who spoke on behalf of the Governor, said that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan has approved an additional P40 million to be allocated for PhilHealth Premiums this year.
With this development, Morden urged all Pangasinenses to patronize the services of the province’s 14 government owned hospitals. He said that Gov. Espino has facilitated the improvement, the renovation, and the construction of new buildings of these health facilities so that they can be at par with the services offered by private hospitals in the province.
Morden bared that community and district hospitals are now equipped with maternal health care unit so that all pregnant women in Pangasinan can now give birth in hospitals owned by the government with competent hospital staff to take care of them. (PIO/Darwin Magalong)
