Overseas Mangatarem groups’ gala night on Oct. 18
The Association of Mangatarem Overseas Residents (AMOR) will hold its 2nd Global Grand Reunion and Convention on Oct. 18 at the Gold Coast Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Spearheaded by AMOR of Southern California and AMOR of San Diego, all AMOR chapters in North America and Mangatarem alumni groups are expected to converge in Las Vegas including the Mangatarem Association of Illinois, AMOR of New York-New Jersey, Toronto-Canada, Northern California, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.
Mangatarem Mayor Teddy Cruz will be the guest of honor, speaker and inducting officer, according to Executive Committee co-chair Caesar Natividad.
The theme will be “AMOR Ugnayan at Pagtutulungan 2008″.
A mini convention starting at 1 p.m. will tackle the establishment of Mangatarem Schools Alumni Foundation (MASAF) and link alumni groups based in Mangatarem, Pangasinan and other parts of the Philippines to embark on rehabilitation of damaged schools due to Typhoon Cosme and other typhoons. It will be followed by a gala night at 6:30 p.m.
AMOR founder Dan Nino will hand over $1,000 raised by the association for a covered court at the Mangatarem Central School.
The band of Alex Lagman featuring Carina Afable, a Philippine celebrity, recording artist, actress and former TV host will provide music and entertainment.
