LINGAYEN–A task force headed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group is set to file a case for murder against those involved in the slaying of a lady official of the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (Cenpelco) on the night of June 11 in Barangay Dumpay 2 Basista town.

However, Police Provincial Director Senior Superintendent Isagani Nerez still refused to divulge the names of the suspects until the cases against them had been filed and warrants for their arrest have been served.

Nerez said Task Force Frias already identified the suspects in less than two weeks of investigation.

Although he did not identify the suspects, Nerez insinuated the incident had something to do with an irregularity at the Cenpelco office in Bayambang where P11million was reported missing.

The irregularity investigated by Frias as then legal officer of Cenpelco, involved 11 officials of the cooperative’s sub-office in Bayambang who were subsequently dismissed.

Frias, who until her death was manager of the Cenpelco’s membership department, was gunned down by two motorcycle-riding men while she was driving home from San Carlos City where she worked overtime to Zamora Street in Basista.

The suspects were believed to be guns-for-hire.

The slaying of Mayor Julian Resuello of  San Carlos City, lawyer Alex Dojillo of San Fabian, among others, all of which remain unsolved, are believed to have been perpetrated by hired killers too.—LM
