LINGAYEN – An order of the Department of Education calling for simple and austere graduation exercises applies to both public and private elementary and high schools.

Dr. Alberto Macob, assistant division superintendent for Pangasinan I, said DepEd Order No.9, series of 2006, clarified that the order applies to both public and private schools under DepEd’s supervision.

He said in anticipation of the coming graduation exercises, Pangasinan I Division called on all school administrators to disseminate the policy of the DepEd pertaining to graduation exercises.

The meeting was prompted by numerous complaints from parents whose children are being charged excessive contributions to enable the school to hold lavish graduation exercises.

Macob emphasized that Deped is aware of the predicament of parents during the graduation exercises of their children so it issued DepEd Order No 9, series of 2006.

Macob urged parents who failed to resolve issues regarding their children’s graduation to elevate the problems to his office. – APE
