ORPHANED and abandoned street children can now find a new home in The Haven for Children.

The new facility in Bonuan Binloc will open its doors on April 1 under the auspices of the Congressional Spouses Foundation, Inc. headed by Mrs. Gina de Venecia, wife of House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr.

Mrs. De Venecia said it will serve as a regional center for children in the entire Ilocos region, comprising Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte.

As envisioned, The Haven for Children will serve as a home away from home to the neglected children in the region, specifically Pangasinan.

“Here, we hope to address the needs of the abandoned children in rural communities. We will rehabilitate them, restore their self-worth and heal the wounds that have been inflicted on their tender bodies and their innocent hearts.

Mrs. De Venecia said it is CSFI’s mission to rescue abandoned children from desperation and helplessness.

She added that it is their wish to heal the abandoned children’s trauma and restore their future in the society, with a promise of a better and brighter life.

Mrs. De Venecia started to train her eyes on the street children who are mostly orphans, abandoned, hungry, drug dependents and who have to endure the nightmares of living in the streets for many years.

Earlier, The Haven for Children in Muntinlupa City, a complex of nine buildings, opened its doors in January and started hosting children, aged six to 14 years, from the streets of Metro Manila.

Two other regional centers for children will be inaugurated this month, one in Tarlac City and the other in Solana, Cagayan. – HBB
