Something must be wrong

There are many and loud complaints coming especially from the ranks of the poor and the oppressed. There is much resentment among many citizens. There are numerous and repeated dissenting rallies and marches in the streets. It is even said that there is continuing restiveness in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
That is why the Office of the President has been getting rather very low approval rating from all sectors of society during the past months. That is why media entities are by and large critical of the government. That is why not only certain known figures but even many common tao with principles and ideals remain defiant—notwithstanding CPR, EO 464 plus the lingering effect of PP 1017.
There must be something wrong somewhere.
It appears that the Administration has one immediate and intimidating answer: the complainants are wrong. The dissenters are wrong. The restive people are wrong. The grand conclusion: the government is always right! Why should the government be always right? And why those are dissenting always wrong?
There is one standing rule that capable and responsible leaders observe: to listen to, learn from and act for their constituents. When a good number of them give a poor approval rating to their leaders, it becomes mandatory for these to look at themselves, see the wrong they do and the right they fail to act on. It is unconscionable for leaders to think that they are always right and everybody else disagreeing with them is wrong.
Would specially the holding of the highest office in the land care to listen to a clear and big reminder? Here: there is practically nothing that the office has and does without the money all intimately coming from the people. In fact when the said office gives, the truth is that what it gives, it first takes from the people themselves. The stark reality is while the said office has everything, a good number of people have barely nothing.
And yet people who disagree, criticize and censure it are looked down as enemies who should be watched, threatened and jailed.
