SOME forty-five children born with harelip will never be ashamed to smile again.

They are the latest beneficiaries of “Operation Smile” undertaken by the Operation Smile Foundation and the Region 1 Medical Center from May 15 to 16.

Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, who coordinated the two-day activity, said those operated on were children from Dagupan and adjacent towns.

Under the ‘Operation Smile’ program, she said, no child in Dagupan afflicted with harelip will ever have to suffer for life.

The children were first screened by doctors of the City Health Office before undergoing final screening on May 14 from doctors of Operation Smile Foundation.

The project is part of the efforts of the city government to build a child-friendly city.

Supporting the program are the CSI Group of Companies and the Inner-Wheel Club headed by Mrs. Elmina Fernandez.—LM
