Two new bridges up soon in Malasiqui – Arenas
MALASIQUI–Two new bridges seen to spur economic activities in this town are set for construction.
Third District Rep. Ma. Rachel Arenas last week led the groundbreaking ceremonies for Pamaranum Bridge and Ican-Bogtong Bridge, costing P18 million and P22 million, respectively.
Arenas said the two bridges and their corresponding road components will provide easier access between several remote barangays and the town’s center.
Pamaranum Bridge will link the communities of Palapar Norte, Palapar Sur and Bongar to the center of trade while the Bogtong-Ican Bridge will connect the barangays and towns of Bogtong and Ican in Malasiqui and Sta. Barbara.
Malasiqui Mayor Armando Domantay said the townsfolk have been pining for the two bridges for decades now.
The two projects will be financed from Arenas’ Project Development Assistance Fund and the neophyte congresswoman credited President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for promptly approving the release of the money.
Both bridges are scheduled for completion within four months.
During the groundbreaking ceremonies, Arenas was assisted by her mother, Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas, and Public Works and Highways Regional Director Fidel Ginez.
Meanwhile, Arenas also announced that a P70 million irrigation project is in the pipeline as she inaugurated several road projects recently completed, including Tarece Road, Pagal Road and Pangpang Road.#
