More repairs in Urdaneta road
URDANETA CITY–Work on the newly-widened portion of the Maharlika Highway here is almost complete but more improvements are set to be undertaken.
According to Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr., the next phase is the replacement of the cracked middle portion of the highway, which has not been refurbished since it was built during the pre-Second World War period.
The concreting of more than 700 meters of the road’s middle section will be financed by the Countrywide Development Fund (CDF) of 5th District Rep. Mark Cojuangco.
The widening of the Maharlika Highway was effected in lieu of a proposed skyway, which was rejected by residents some seven years ago.
Property owners on both sides of the Maharlika Highway set back their buildings and houses for the widened highway.
Perez assured that construction of the middle portion of the highway would not hinder the flow of traffic from north to south and vice versa.
Also funded by Cojuangco’s CDF is the work on the drainage system along the stretch which is now almost complete.—LM
