Killers score anew vs Task Force Hagibis
LINGAYEN – “Catch us if you can” is the message of assassins and highway robbers to Police Provincial Director Alan Purisima’s Task Force ‘Hagibis’ which is still busy training its members.
To make sure the motorcycle-riding guns-for-hire delivered their message, they struck anew last Thursday in barangay Bonuan Gueset in Dagupan City.
This time, the lone fatality was identified as Ruben Patricio, 25, farmer of sitio Inabaan in barangay Labney, San Jacinto. He and three others had just come from the Hall of Justice at Tondaligan Park when gunned down by one of two suspects riding on a motorcycle on Ayusip road at 10:35 a.m.
He and companions were on board a tricycle driven by Greg Balcita, 31, of barangay Bolo, also in San Jacinto when fired upon with the use of Cal. 45 pistol. Balcita was hit in the left part of his body and rushed to the Region I Medical Center.
Meanwhile, Senior Inspector Jose Manubay, provincial chief of the Traffic Management Group, said the 38 policemen being trained on defensive motorcycle riding will form the first batch of members of Task Force Hagibis’ that will go after the ‘killers on wheels’.
He said the trainees are being trained on how to maneuver their motorcycles in difficult situations, even in narrow alleys, simulating situations when they chase lawless elements riding in motorcycles.
“We are putting them in situations which they would really face in the highways,” Manubay said.
Task Force ‘Hagibis’ will be trained not only to go after hired killers but also holdup men who often victimize people who had just withdrawn large amount of money from banks.
He said Provincial Director Purisima has directed, all motorcycle units in every police station will all soon be required to undergo training on defensive motorcycle riding and be eventually tasked to form Task Force Hagibis in their respective towns.
Towards the end of the training, the trainees will be taught how to fire their pistols at certain targets while riding on their motorcycles.
