Illegal drug trade still on in Dagupan

THE shabu business still thrives in Barangay Bonuan Binloc in Dagupan Ctiy.

The city police determined this after a successful buy-bust operation led to the arrest of another suspect, identified as Jojo de Vera, for violation of Republic Act No.9165 in Sitio America, also in Bonuan Binloc.

Mayor Benjamin Lim earlier issued a stern warning to barangay residents of Sitio Silungan, known as the haven of illegal drug trading in the city and adjacent towns during a forum on a citywide campaign against distribution and sale of illegal drugs.

Huwag ninyo akong subukan” he said as he appealed to community elders to help put a stop to the long-standing illegal business.

The suspect was arrested in a buy-bust operation by police intelligence operatives led by Chief Inspector Giovanni Mangonon of the DCPS.

De Vera sold one sachet of shabu, the street name for the illegal drug methamphetamine, for P5 00 to P03 Manuel Piapa Cruz who posed as a buyer.

Three other packs of shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia were also seized from the suspect after his arrest.

During the operation, another trader identified as Carlito Agbayani, 40, was also arrested from whom three more plastic sachets containing shabu were seized.

Appropriate charges are now being readied against De Vera and Agbayani.
