SAN CARLOS CITY—Construction of the new Calvo Bridge in Bayambang is well under way, with a quarter of the work already completed.

This was the observation of Third District Rep. Rachel, who worked out the P50 million funding for the bridge from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), after she conducted a site inspection Friday with some engineers.

She also visited four other ongoing bridge projects and school classrooms.

Meanwhile, DPWH Regional Director Fidel Ginez, also the acting district engineer here, is now making an inventory of available Bailey bridge panels in the province that can be used for the completion of a detour bridge to ease the flow of pedestrian traffic while Calvo is under construction.

The P50 million allocated for the bridge is set to be finished by September and the project reportedly needs another P20 million, to fully complete work on the bridge by December.

The new Calvo Bridge will be a three-span structure. #
