Pangasinan Provincial Meet slated Jan. 28-31 in Tayug

TAYUG–Preparations for the hosting of the Pangasinan Provincial Meet in Tayug on January 28 are being rushed to receive athletes from public and secondary schools in the province.

The oval is now being spruced up with a P1.5 million fund extended by the provincial government through Vice Governor Marlyn Primicias-Agabas, an alumna of Tayug National High School.

Governor Amado Espino Jr. will be the guest of honor and speaker during the opening of the four-day meet to be held at the TNHS Oval.

Mayor Carlos Trece Mapili also donated 2,500 hollow blocks, 10 truckloads of sand and gravel and 50 bags of cement.

The Parents Teachers Community Association, headed by Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Noel Bince, donated P20,000 which  was used for the construction of  stands for athletes and referees, hurdles and other needed amenities.

Teachers of Districts 1 and 2 in Tayug also contributed for the purchase of the needed stoppers for softball and baseball.

The town of Tayug took the Provincial Meet’s hosting chore after San Quintin, headed by Mayor Clark Chui, gave way.—LM
