Espino brings together warring local mediamen
LINGAYEN– ‘Tis a time for love and peace.
Warring factions of Pangasinan media recently set aside their differences and came together to celebrate Christmas in a party hosted by Governor Amado Espino Jr. at the beautifully-decorated Capitol grounds here Thursday night.
About 200 local reporters from various weekly newspapers, radio stations, and cable television stations belonging to the Pangasinan Press and Radio Club, Inc. Pangasinan Tri-Media Association, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, Pangasinan PNP Press Corps, came to show unity and promote professionalism in the local industry.
These groups, through their presidents who spoke during the night, vowed to cooperate with each other on various projects.
For his part, Espino said that while he understands the value of the press, but he asked them not to abuse their power.
“I wouldn’t mind being criticized. We are living in a democratic society. But let’s put class, finesse, intelligence and some patriotism, and excellence in it,” Espino said.
He urged the media to be part of the development that his administration envisions for Pangasinan. #
