Barangays in 4th District to get P1M each for projects
FROM JDV’s PORK BARREL
A MILLION pesos for each barangay.
House Speaker Jose de Venecia Jr., representative of the 4th District, made this promise to his constituents last week when officials of the 140 barangays took their oath of office before him.
The 4th District covers Dagupan City and the towns of Mangaldan, San Jacinto, Manaoag and San Fabian.
The fund will be sourced from De Venecia’s Countrywide Development Fund.
He told the newly elected barangay chairmen, councilors and Sangguniang Kabataan officials that they should start planning their priority projects that can be funded by the allotment.
“Anggapoy pinili, anggapoy nilabi (No one is favored, no one is discriminated),” he said.
De Venecia, who recently called for a moral revolution in government, told the local officials to serve faithfully and well.
“We didn’t run to become rich, powerful, abusive or arrogant,” the veteran politician said.

Meanwhile, Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Oscar Cruz, one of the most vocal critics of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, has thrown his support behind De Venecia on his moral revolution advocacy.
De Venecia visited Cruz Saturday afternoon at the chancery here where they discussed De Venecia’s call.
The house speaker is asking the President to “save the administration, save her presidency”.
“Maybe God is starting to move a little bit because no less than Cardinal (Ricardo) Vidal, the senior leader of the Catholic Church, Archbishop (Angel) Lagdameo, the president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, and now we have the support of Archbishop Cruz,” De Venecia told the local media after his lengthy talk with the archbishop.
He also said that, “It is better if we can transform ourselves, then we can change the human heart and if we change the human heart, then you can change the world.”#
