AN advocacy alliance of higher education institutions (HEIs) has been signed between the Association of Private Schools Colleges and Universities (APSCU) and the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU).

The signing took place during the APSCU biennial convention last November 15 and 16 at the Leisure Coast Resort in Dagupan City between Dr. MacArthur Samson, APSCU Region 1 president and Dr. Gonzalo Duque, PACU national president.

The signing was witnessed by TEACHER party list Rep. Mariano Piamonte Jr. who was the guest of honor and speaker.

The alliance aims, among other things, to establish rapport and unified commitments among HEIs and HEI organizations to support mutual interests and advocacies that seek to counteract illegal and prejudicial policies that may be enacted by the Commission on Higher Education, Professional Regulation Commission, Technical Education Skills Development Authority and other government HEI regulating bodies.

The convention, which focused on critical issues on education and accreditation affecting Region 1 private schools, was attended by some 200 delegates, led by some of the biggest names in private education in Region 1.

Among the resources speakers were Dr. Mona Valisno, presidential assistant on education; Dr. Paz Lucido, dean of Teachers Education, Arts and Sciences of Centro Escolar University; Dr. Catalino Rivera, president of the Metro Dagupan City chapter of APSCU; and Dr. Rosita Navarro, chairman of CACUCOA.
