Christmas décor contest on
A Christmas decor-making contest using recycled waste materials was launched in the province under the auspices of the Pangasinan Earth Savers Movement (PESM).
Samuel Songcuan, Pangasinan’s community environment and natural resources officer, said the contest, with the theme “Your wastes yesterday serve as Christmas decors today”, is open to all public and private high schools that signed a memorandum of agreement with the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office pledging their support to the PESM.
PESM launched the activity to raise community consciousness on waste segregation and recycling, both of which can create livelihood opportunities at the same time.
Cash prizes at stake are: first prize, P7,000; second prize, P5,000; third prize, P3,000; and P1,000for five other entries.
Judging will be on December 6 at the Dagupan City plaza.
The criteria are ingenuity, market ability and simplicity of the entries.
All entries must be made of recycled materials and assembled by students as certified to by the school head. #
