Dengue rising in city anew
CITY Health Officer Leonard Carbonell expressed alarm over the rising number of dengue cases in Dagupan City at this time of the year.
He said his office has already registered 13 dengue cases since January 1 to date, with still 10 months to go before the year ends.
The big number of cases clearly manifests the need for higher awareness for need to adopt sanitary practices, especially in far-flung barangays, Carbonell said.
The mosquito Aedes Egypti strikes in unsanitary areas, he said, and called on barangay officials to be pro-active in promoting cleanliness in their environment.
Carbonell appealed to the barangay captains to closely monitor their respective communities and to report immediately to health authorities anyone among their constituents getting sick of dengue.
Echoing the maxim “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure,” Carbonell said there is a need for all to stay alert lest it becomes tool late for anyone to help.
He stressed that anyone who has symptoms of dengue needs immediate medical attention.- APE
