Espino seeks support of US-based Pangasinenses
IT is a working visit aimed at promoting Pangasinan.
This was how Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan described the trip to the United States of Gov. Amado Espino Jr. that began November 4 until the 22nd.
Espino left the reins of the provincial government in the hands of Vice Governor Marlyn Primicias Agabas as acting governor and the latter’s husband, Provincial Board Member Tyrone Agabas, as acting vice governor.
Baraan told The PUNCH that Governor
Espino left for the U.S. with Mayors Simplicio Rosario of Binmaley and Ernesto Castañeda of Lingayen.
The three were originally scheduled to visit three states, namely Nevada, California and Washington but cancelled their trip to the third as their host, Alma Quintans-Kern, will be in Manila following the death of her sister Dulce Saguisag, wife of former Senator Rene Saguisag.
Part of Espino’s itinerary in California is a visit to Milpitas City whose mayor, Jose Esteves, is from Dagupan City.
The visit of Espino to the U.S. is his first since assuming his post in July this year and is aimed at touching base with the overseas Pangasinenses and invite them to come and visit their home province, especially their relatives and friends.
The governor and his party are set to meet officers and members of the Binmaley Associations, the Lingayen Associations and the United Pangasinan Associations.
“This is a way of promoting Pangasinan to the world and informing them (overseas Pangasinenses) of the good developments at home,” Baraan said.
The group will also invite the overseas Pangasinenses, particularly the retirees, to invest their money in the province on projects that can create jobs for unemployed Pangasinenses.—LM
