IT was a glorious moment for the high school and elementary students of Dominican School Dagupan who joined the University of the Philippines Subol Society (UPSS) Padunungan 2007 Quiz Show on October 25-26, 2007 at the Mangaldan Youth Development Center in Mangaldan, Pangasinan.

Senior students Frances Jane Guiang, Paula Bianca Ferrer-Patungan and Kathleen Rose Rayos, and Junior student Daphne Elizabeth Ruiz emerged champion in the high school category.

At the same time, Grade 6 pupils Bon Jason Batecan, Patricia Sison and Charles Khurt Yumul, and Grade 5 pupil Polychase Magaoay placed second in the elementary category.

Rayos was also a member of the team which ranked third in the mixed-campus category, each team being composed offour students from four different schools grouped at random.

More than 15 public and private elementary and secondary schools participated in the competition, the theme of which was “Level UP, Metamorphose!”

For 28 years, the UPSS has been hosting quiz shows for the Pangasinan youth, to promote the improvement of their competence in areas such as Mathematics, Science and English and Literature.

Other contest categories, such as essay writing, poetry writing, poster making, photo shoot, extemporaneous speech, songwriting and Subi junk art making have been added to the program through the years.

Members of the 32-year old organization are Pangasinense students of the University of the Philippines Baguio and Diliman.#
