NGO, Comelec, PNP appeal for clean, peaceful polls
The Advocacy for Community Lives Improvement Philippines Inc., a non-profit organization founded and headed by Alex De Venecia, a former councilor of Dagupan renewed its call to voters and candidates to keep the barangay election clean and peaceful.
The campaign is being supported by Atty. Remarque Rabanzo, head of the Commission on Election (COMELEC) office in the city, and Dionicio Borromeo, chief of the city’s Philippine National Police (PNP) force.
The group issued a reminder on the important features of the COMELEC laws, including the following:
1. No vote buying
2. No material gift giving
3. No intimidation of voters
4. No illegal posting.
5. No deadly weapons
A motorcade was held around Dagupan yesterday, the last day of the campaign period, participated in by the COMELEC, PNP, media, Public Order and Safety Office, Motorcycle Club, religious groups, and other NGOs.
The motorcade was held to echo the appeal for HOPE (Honest, Orderly Peaceful Election plus no vote buying).
“Hopefully we can show to the whole country that Dagupan City is a role model in the observance of the rules and regulations of the COMELEC,” De Venecia said.
