Manay Gina’s counter plan: cops riding in tandem

By December 11, 2011Inside News, News

FOURTH District Rep. Gina de Venecia is keen on supporting the planned formation of uniformed policemen riding in tandem on motorcycles to pursue criminals riding in tandem.

De Venecia said she will donate two high-speed motorcycles to the police stations in each of the five local government units (LGUs) in her district, which include Dagupan City, Mangaldan, San Fabian, San Jacinto and Manaoag.

Armed men riding in tandem have been killing their targets with impunity in the province and often get away with the crime.

“The tragedy that happened to Barangay Captain Arsenio Bucao of Barangay Tocok in San Fabian during the town fiesta early this year has not escaped my mind,” she said.

Bucao was to attend the Ms. San Fabian coronation night at the town plaza during the fiesta in January this year, where De Venecia was the guest of honor and speaker, when he was gunned down by armed men riding in tandem while he was on board a barangay patrol vehicle.

The perpetrators of the murder have yet to be arrested by the police.

“We will give the police their need for mobility so that they can get these killers riding in tandem,” said De Venecia when she spoke before barangay officials of Mangaldan town who availed of free Hepatitis B injection.
