Barangay chief escapes murder attempt
MALASIQUI–The chairman of Barangay Lasip here survived unscathed an assassination attempt on him late evening of September 11 in front of his residence.
Flor Benitez 51, married, was fired upon several times with an M16 armalite rifle as evidenced by five empty shells recovered by the police about 15 meters away from the house.
One deformed slug was also recovered by the police near the house wall of the victim’s house.
According to the police report, Benitez has just stepped out of their comfort room and was about to enter the main house through the kitchen when still unidentified suspects rained him with gunfire.
The motive behind the attempt is still undetermined.
