Pangasinan State U will open campus in Alaminos City
ALAMINOS CITY–The state-owned Pangasinan State University (PSU) will soon be putting up a campus here following the full support given by Mayor Hernani Braganza.
This will be the ninth campus of the university, which is seen to serve the educational demand in the western part of the province.
Dr. Victoriano Estira, PSU president, said he has already met with Braganza twice and are now jointly putting plans in place to make the new campus operational by next school year.
Estira lauded Braganza for his support considering that his family owns one college in the city, which will be in competition with the PSU.
Alaminos, home of the Hundred Islands National Park, has the biggest population among the 10 towns within western Pangasinan and serves as the area’s business center.
PSU plans to initially offer the following degrees in the Alaminos campus: Bachelor of Science in Education, Business Management, Agriculture, Fisheries, Hotel and Restaurant Management and medical courses such as caregiving, nursing aide, medical transcription and nursing.
PSU currently has campuses in Asingan, Bayambang, Sta. Maria, Binmaley, Urdaneta City, Infanta, San Carlos City and the capital town of Lingayen.
It has a population of more than 10,000 students.
PSU, created by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1497 in 1978, operates as a university system after integrating seven colleges in Pangasinan. #
