Dagupan mayor assures no corruption in business permit renewal
MAYOR Belen Fernandez assured that there will be no corruption that will be done by anyone at city hall, as businessmen again start seeking the renewal of their business permit at the start of the New Year. She appealed to businessmen to complete the needed requirements to expedite the processing of their new business permits.
The mayor warned that the city government is stricter now than before, and appealed to businessmen that no other businesses other than those stated in their business permits shall be done by them. (Mathew Pacheco)

Lingayen youth lead river clean-up
YOUTH volunteers of Lingayen spearheaded a creek clean-up and restoration drive in Barangay Tumbar on January 13 as part of the continuing Watershed Watchers Program, aimed at addressing issues of cleanliness and the clogging and pollution of waterways in the town.
The activity followed the completion of Phase 2 of the Bokashi Mudball Technology program, during which participants attended an environmental sustainability seminar and received hands-on training in making bokashi mudballs as a nature-based solution to water pollution, underscoring youth-led, concrete action for ecological care and preservation. Binmaley seeks pact with Church to protect heritage
THE Sangguniang Bayan of Binmaley has proposed a resolution calling for a formal agreement between the municipal government and the Our Lady of the Purification Parish for the recognition, protection, supervision, and care of the town’s heritage cultural properties.
Mayor Pedro Merrera III endorsed the resolution as an urgent measure anchored on Republic Act 10066, or the National Cultural Heritage Act of 2009, saying it aims to preserve historic structures and sites for future generations. In an earlier interview, parish officials said they are willing to cancel plans to demolish an old cemetery arch should it be proven to be a genuine heritage structure. (Jam Victorio)

February 27, deadline for securing the community tax certificate
The Mangaldan Municipal Treasury Office has reminded residents that February 27, 2026 is the deadline for securing a Community Tax Certificate (CTC) without any corresponding penalty.
An advisory of the local treasury office stated that those who may secure CTC past the February 27 deadline would be made to pay a 24 percent penalty per annum based on existing regulations.
Because of this, the public in Mangaldan is being called to secure their CTCs early to avoid any penalty. The treasury office is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday to assist those seeking the computation of the amount they pay for their CTCs. (Jam Victorio)

PRO 1 nets P3 million worth of illegal drugs in first week of 2026
Some ₱3 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in the Ilocos Region during the first week of January 2026, according to the data of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 1.
The data shows that from January 1 to 7, 2026, the Region 1 police seized ₱2,966,065 worth of illegal drugs in separate anti-illegal drug operations in the region. There were 37 operations conducted that resulted in the arrest of 45 suspects.
Among those seized were 435 grams of shabu and 29 grams of dried marijuana leaves in operations conducted in four provinces of the Ilocos Region. (Mathew Pacheco)
