A renewable energy investor has presented preliminary project proposals to officials of the town of Mapandan, focusing on potential developments in solar power and other infrastructure initiatives.

Zhou Huiying, an investor in the power and renewable energy sector, visited the office of Mayor Karl Christian F. Vega on Tuesday, January 13, to discuss possible investment opportunities centered on the establishment of solar energy projects in the municipality.

According to municipal officials, the proposals include the development of solar farms that could contribute to power supply stability and generate economic activity, subject to further evaluation and approval.

As part of the initial assessment, an ocular inspection was conducted in Barangays Luyan and Aserda, which were identified as potential sites for the proposed solar projects, to assess site readiness and suitability for project implementation.

Representatives from the Municipal Assessor’s Office and the Municipal Engineering Office joined the inspection and provided initial technical input regarding land use, infrastructure, and site conditions.

In addition to the renewable energy proposals, the investor also presented a concept for a river park project along the Angalacan River,  which officials said, could have implications for local tourism development.

Municipal officials, however, clarified that the proposals remain at the exploratory stage and will undergo further study, coordination, and regulatory review before any commitments are made. (Ahikam Pasion)
