5 new police stations eyed in Dagupan City
THE Dagupan City government is now scouting for available lands in strategic areas of the city, which it could buy, where five new stations of the Dagupan City Police Office (DCPO) will be built.
Mayor Belen Fernandez said during her Cable Television program “Sumbungan ng Bayan” this Wednesday that she and City Engineer Josephine Corpuz are now making the rounds to look for lands as potential locations of five police stations.
Once identified and bought, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will finance and oversee the construction of police stations that will be located in Bonuan Binloc, Bolosan, Calmay, Caranglaan, and Malued. The present station on Poblacion Oeste will be the DCPO’s main headquarters because of its central location.
Headed by Acting Police City Director Orly Pagaduan, the DCPO was only constituted in September last year through a resolution approved by the National Police Commission Board, headed by Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla.
Since its inception, the DCPO has acquired more than double the number of policemen it had, which was only more or less 130, when it was yet a police station under the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office.
Mayor Fernandez said peace and order are a priority under her administration, which is why she is giving her all-out support to DCPO.
She called on the local police to maintain their visibility in all areas, especially in places where large groups of people converge, to prevent crimes and protect the people. (Leonardo Micua)
