THE San Carlos City Philippine National Police (PNP) actively supervised the sale of fireworks in a designated firecracker zone located in Barangay Rizal, San Carlos City, starting on December 22, to ensure public safety as the holiday season approaches.

P/Capt. Aldrin Tamayo, Operations Officer of the San Carlos City PNP, said that the selling and displaying of fireworks are permitted only in specific areas and are being closely supervised in partnership with the local government and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

He mentioned that the safety of both vendors and customers will be prioritized.

Additionally, he noted that vendors must secure a permit from the PNP Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) along with approval from the Local Government Unit of San Carlos.

“Any individual found to be selling fireworks without a permit or outside of the designated areas will face an immediate ban, and the illegal fireworks will be confiscated, said Tamayo.

The agency explained that the Local Government Unit has only issued a limited number of permits, allowing just 22 individuals to sell fireworks within the city.

PCapt. Tamayo remarked that daily inspections will be conducted to ensure that no prohibited or overly potent fireworks are sold, particularly those that could lead to fires and accidents.

The San Carlos City Police will continue their patrols and monitoring activities to prevent the illegal sale of fireworks and to maintain the safety of residents during the Christmas and New Year festivities. (Kim Gealogo)
