Pag-IBIG rolls out Barkada Loan pilot in Dagupan
THE Pag-IBIG Fund on Friday launched its first-ever Barkada Loan pilot program in Dagupan City, marking a new lending approach that allows groups of members to access financing collectively.
The launch was held in Mayombo District and was attended by Pag-IBIG officials led by Acting DCEO-MSC Atty. Marcial Pimentel Jr., MSO-Luzon Group Vice President, Perlacita Roldan, and Ilocos Region Acting Area Head Meriam Pamittan.
The Barkada Loan enables groups of at least three Pag-IBIG members to apply for loans for various needs, making credit more accessible to those who may find individual borrowing difficult.
Members under the program may also enjoy exclusive discounts from partner franchisors through the Pag-IBIG Loyalty Card Plus. Officials said the pilot aims to promote financial inclusion and encourage group responsibility and mutual support.
Pag-IBIG Fund said the program is slated for nationwide rollout in 2026, following evaluation of the Dagupan pilot. Atty. Pimentel said the initiative seeks to empower communities by providing easier access to financial assistance while fostering collaboration among members.
Pag-IBIG is now inviting interested members and franchisors to inquire and participate in the program. (Ahikam Pasion)
