Former Urdaneta Mayor Rudy Parayno laid to rest
THE city of Urdaneta is in mourning following the passing of Dr. Rodolfo “Rudy” Parayno, who served as mayor from 1992 to 2001. He was 92 years old.
Dr. Parayno, the uncle of current City Mayor Julio Parayno III, was laid to rest on December 17, after his remains lay in state at St. Peter Funeral Homes in Urdaneta City.
His death brings profound sorrow to both his family and the residents of Urdaneta, who remember him for his dedicated service during his long tenure as mayor.
As the last municipal mayor and first city mayor, he established a legacy of integrity, transparency, and earnest commitment to the people of Urdaneta, serving as a model and source of inspiration for future city executives.
Renowned for his humility and devotion to Urdaneta, Dr. Parayno chose to serve without any publicity, guided by a clear vision for the welfare of his constituents.
One of the founding figures in Urdaneta’s journey to cityhood, he consistently prioritized the community’s needs over his own, exemplifying integrity and professionalism in both public service and local governance.
His remains were initially taken to the old city hall, allowing officials and employees to pay their final tributes to a mayor who devoted his heart and life to public service. (Leonardo Micua)
