Mangaldan awaits council ruling on E-Bike rules

MANGALDAN’S  Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) will hold off on enforcing any restrictions on e-bikes along the National Highway until the Sangguniang Bayan issues clear guidelines. POSO Chief Gerardo Ydia clarified that e-bikes remain allowed since they currently use only inner roads and intersections, not the highway. He added that the council’s ongoing deliberations focus mainly on muffler regulations, not e-bike operations.

Ydia noted that e-bikes have become a livelihood for many residents, including former pedicab drivers and parents bringing children to school. Registered units with proper permits have not caused major issues, he said.

While awaiting the council’s final ruling, Ydia reminded motorists to ensure road safety by regularly checking brakes and wearing helmets. He said the POSO is ready to support the implementation of any regulation the Sangguniang Bayan adopts to improve traffic flow in Mangaldan. (Ahikam Pasion)
