Pantal honored with Galing Pook 2025 National Award
BARANGAY Pantal has proudly placed the City of Dagupan on the national stage by being selected as one of only 10 barangays across the country to receive the prestigious Galing Pook Awards for 2025, presented during a ceremony on December 3 in Malacañang.
Barangay Captain Julita Perez accepted the accolade on behalf of Pantal from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Interior and Local Government Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla, and Mel Sarmiento, the awards’ chairman.
In recognition of their achievement, each awardee received a Galing Pook Marker and a cash prize of P300,000 from the Department of the Interior and Local Government-Local Government Academy.
As one of the largest barangays in Dagupan, Pantal earned this honor through its innovative community justice garden. Remarkably, it stood out as the only barangay in Dagupan, Pangasinan, and Region I to win the national recognition.
Mayor Belen Fernandez expressed her pride in Barangay Pantal, saying, “Led by our friend Kap Julita Perez, they exemplify what it means to be a model barangay, demonstrating unwavering dedication and hard work. Their initiatives prioritize the welfare and development of their residents.”
She further emphasized, “This recognition for one of our 31 barangays serves as a testament to the power of good governance, community care, and unity in achieving progress. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to everyone—barangay officials, workers, volunteers, families, and all our local government partners.” (Leonardo Micua)
