Cyclist dies in Binalonan truck mishap

A 57-year-old cyclist was killed after he was run over by a dump truck along the national highway near Binalonan Crossing on Thursday. The victim, Juan Laurean, was cycling on the roadside when the truck driven by a 41-year-old man struck him, causing fatal injuries that led to his instantaneous death.

Police said the driver fled after the incident and was later reported to have suffered flat tires while escaping. Authorities are now preparing criminal charges against the suspect as the investigation continues.

Man hurt in Calasiao Christmas Village stabbing

A 20-year-old man was rushed to the Region 1 Medical Center after he was stabbed in the neck during a confrontation at the Christmas Village in the Calasiao town plaza. The victim and a companion were viewing the holiday display when the attacker allegedly struck without provocation.

Police said the suspect fled immediately after the assault and is now the subject of a manhunt. Investigators continue to determine the motive behind the attack.

Deadly stabbing at Aguilar gathering

A social event in Aguilar turned fatal when a 31-year-old welder was stabbed following a heated argument with an acquaintance. Police said the victim left the gathering to go home, but the suspect, a 46-year-old member of a Civilian Volunteer Organization, followed him and attacked, stabbing him in the chest and side.

The welder was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival. Responding officers immediately apprehended the suspect, who is now facing appropriate charges.

CVO member shot in Urdaneta

A 50-year-old member of a Civilian Voluntary Organization in Urdaneta City was critically wounded after being shot during a heated confrontation with a pedestrian late Monday night. The incident occurred around 10:55 p.m. near a barangay hall as the victim was heading to report for duty on a tricycle. Police said a verbal dispute broke out between the two, escalating quickly into violence.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim twice in the abdomen before fleeing on foot. The CVO member was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors have yet to release an update on his condition. Authorities are conducting a follow-up investigation to identify and track down the gunman.

Worker nabbed for stabbing at Bolinao wake

A wake in Bolinao turned chaotic when a 33-year-old construction worker stabbed two attendees with a sharpened chicken spur commonly used in cockfighting. Witnesses said the suspect became unruly and was told to leave, but returned moments later armed with the “tari.”

He allegedly attacked one victim repeatedly before stabbing another in the leg. Police arrived quickly and arrested the suspect. Both victims were brought to the Bolinao Community Hospital for treatment.

Eight hurt in Villasis head-on crash

Eight people, including three minors, were injured when a passenger bus and a sedan collided head-on in Villasis during an alleged improper overtaking maneuver. Police said the sedan, driven by a 49-year-old lending collector, was heading west when the bus suddenly swerved into its lane while attempting to pass another vehicle.

The impact severely damaged both vehicles and sent the sedan’s driver and seven passengers to a nearby hospital for treatment. The bus, driven by a 53-year-old from Tuguegarao and carrying 27 passengers, reported no injuries. Authorities are investigating the incident.
