MTRCB pushes drive to shield children from obscene content
The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB), led by chairperson Lala Sotto, held an orientation at Pantal Elementary School to raise awareness among parents and students on proper TV and film classification. Sotto underscored the importance of guiding families toward responsible viewing and protecting minors from sensitive content.
During the session, the MTRCB detailed its classification system—from G, PG, and SPG to R-ratings—and explained how these guidelines help prevent children from accessing inappropriate films and shows. 250 cyclists join Padyak Kontra Droga
Some 250 cyclists from Dagupan and nearby towns joined the “Padyak Kontra Droga” organized by the DOH–Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center as part of National Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Week on November 22. The ride kicked off from CSI Stadia in Lucao and ended at DOH-DTRC in Bonuan Binloc, where participants pledged to help fight drug abuse.
The event was supported by the Dangerous Drugs Board, PNP, PDEA, BJMP, DepEd, and the Dagupan City government. Organizers said the activity aimed to strengthen community involvement in keeping neighborhoods drug-free. (Denise Brillante)

45K houses damaged by ‘Uwan’ in Ilocos
The Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) reported that 45,817 houses across the Ilocos Region were damaged by Super Typhoon “Uwan,” most of them in Pangasinan. Of the total, 3,254 were destroyed while 42,563 sustained partial damage.
DHSUD Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling said that, following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive, owners of partially damaged homes will receive ₱20,000, while those with totally damaged houses will get ₱50,000. The agency is awaiting LGU recommendations for further shelter assistance. (Jam Victorio)

San Nicolas honors outstanding 4Ps families
San Nicolas recognized exemplary beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program during its recent 4Ps Summit, honoring families with children who passed board exams, along with outstanding child beneficiaries, model families, and parent leaders. The barangay with the best vegetable garden was also cited.
The event aimed to remind beneficiaries of their responsibilities and deepen awareness of the program’s benefits under the government’s social welfare efforts. (Nil Moyano)

Aid for Pugaro fishermen fast-tracked
The Dagupan City government is expediting financial aid for fishermen in Barangay Pugaro, among the hardest hit by Typhoon Uwan, after their fish pens and cages were destroyed.
City Agriculture and Social Welfare offices are now processing assistance to help affected families rebuild their structures and resume raising milkfish and other fish varieties. (Jam Victorio)

Tondaligan Park clearing continues
Clearing operations at Tondaligan Park in Dagupan City are ongoing as owners rebuild cottages and sheds damaged by Typhoon Uwan. Fallen branches, debris, and sand that buried the Baywalk and even Paras Street are being removed to restore the area and reopen normal traffic flow.
Despite the mess left by the storm, beachgoers from across the city continue to flock to the shoreline to swim, wade in the water, or simply enjoy the fresh sea breeze. (Joana de Vera)
