DECORP continues power restoration efforts; full service eyed
THE Dagupan Electric Corporation (DECORP) continues to fast-track its power restoration and clearing operations in areas of Pangasinan severely affected by Super Typhoon “Uwan.”
Engineer Alriel John Garbo of DECORP said line crews have been deployed to several locations where utility poles were toppled and power lines were cut during the onslaught of the typhoon.
“We are pleased to report that our mainline feeders are now 100 percent operational,” Garbo said in an update.
In Dagupan City, Garbo reported that 93.37 percent of consumers have already had their electricity restored as of Tuesday, November 11. He assured that all feeders supplying power to major roads and streets in the city have been fully re-energized.
DECORP’s teams are now concentrating their efforts on hard-to-reach areas, including the upland portions of San Fabian, Longos-Amangonan, and interior sections of Dagupan where secondary posts were damaged. Power restoration is also ongoing in other affected towns, including Calasiao, Sta. Barbara, Manaoag, and San Jacinto.
The company aims to complete full restoration in all affected areas by the end of the week, allowing it to lift its current “yellow alert” status.
Despite widespread damage, Garbo assured that power supply to essential facilities in Dagupan—such as hospitals and water supply systems—has already been restored. Only one substation in Dagupan remains submerged, but he said a backup system is currently supplying power while repair work continues.
Garbo urged residents to report power-related issues directly to DECORP’s office or through its official Facebook page, noting the high volume of calls being received.
He also denied rumors of an alleged electrocution incident involving children on Zamora Street.
“There were no reports of electrocution or downed poles in that area,” Garbo clarified, describing the circulating story as “fake news.”
He appealed to the public to avoid spreading misinformation that could hamper the company’s efforts to respond swiftly to legitimate concerns. (Ahikam Pasion)
