Man shot dead in Urbiztondo

Fear and tension have gripped Barangay Salavante, Urbiztondo, after a resident was shot dead by an unidentified gunman on a stormy Sunday evening, November 9. The victim, identified as Noli Rosario Calugay, was reportedly preparing to move his belongings when the assailant opened fire. His partner, Menalyn De Guzman De Vera, said she heard several gunshots around 6:35 p.m. and found Calugay already lifeless outside their house.

Calugay was rushed to the Mangatarem District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival due to multiple gunshot wounds. His sibling, Elvie Rosario Calugay, and Barangay Chairman Raymundo Frias Sr. reported the incident to the Urbiztondo Police Station, which is now investigating to identify the suspect and determine the motive.

Minor admits to arson after fire hits San Jacinto house

A fire that broke out in a house in San Jacinto on Tuesday afternoon, November 11, was quickly contained through the prompt response of family members and neighbors, preventing total destruction of the property. The fire started around 4:30 p.m. in a house made of light materials owned by a 34-year-old woman currently residing in Mindoro. Her sister, Jerica, 28, noticed the blaze and called for help, limiting the damage to an estimated P15,000.

However, the Bureau of Fire Protection later confirmed that a minor intentionally started the fire after being caught on CCTV entering the house moments before the incident. The young suspect later admitted to the act and was turned over to the Women and Children Protection Desk.

Painter stabbed by woman in Dagupan City

A 29-year-old painter was injured after being stabbed by a woman in Dagupan City on Tuesday evening, November 11. Police said the incident happened near the suspect’s house, where the victim and his friends were reportedly making loud remarks about a woman. The commotion allegedly angered the suspect, a 47-year-old married woman and fellow painter, who ran toward the group and stabbed the victim.

The wounded man was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Hours later, the suspect voluntarily surrendered to Police Station 4. Authorities are conducting further investigation to determine the full circumstances and possible motive behind the attack.

Man nabbed for stealing air conditioner in Binmaley

A 42-year-old tint installer was arrested in Binmaley after he was caught stealing an air conditioner from a residence, police reported. The incident came to light when a 64-year-old widow discovered that the unit, valued at P16,000 and owned by her 29-year-old son, was missing from their home.

The woman immediately sought help from barangay officials, who traced the suspect to his residence. Authorities recovered the stolen air conditioner in his possession and turned him over to the Binmaley Police Station. The suspect is now facing theft charges while the recovered appliance was returned to its rightful owner.

Two pedestrians hurt in Pozorrubio road mishap

Two pedestrians were injured after being hit by a pick-up truck in Barangay Nantangalan, Pozorrubio, on Monday, November 10. The victims, identified as Renante Madrilejos Espiritu and Reynaldo Malagayo Pader, were sitting in front of a store when the northbound vehicle driven by Gregorio Osdawen Laging struck them, causing head injuries.

Rescue personnel from Barangay Nantangalan rushed the victims to a hospital in Dagupan City for treatment. The unharmed driver was brought to the Pozorrubio Community Hospital for examination and tested positive for alcohol, according to the attending physician. The damaged pick-up truck was impounded at the Pozorrubio Police Station for documentation and further investigation.

Teenager missing after being swept away by strong current in Mangatarem

A 15-year-old boy from Barangay Cabaruan, Mangatarem, remains missing after being swept away by a strong current while crossing the Lucero Dam in Barangay Tagac on the afternoon of November 10. The victim, identified as Andre Buella Perez, was with his brother, Aron, and cousin, Carl Erwin Buella, when the water suddenly rose and pulled them downstream around 1:30 p.m.

According to the Mangatarem Police, residents managed to rescue Aron and Carl Erwin, who are now safe. However, Andre has yet to be found. Rescue operations by police and MDRRMO personnel are ongoing. Andre was last seen wearing a black T-shirt and black jogging pants.

Newborn baby found abandoned in Laoac drain

A newborn baby boy was found abandoned inside a drainage canal in Barangay Yatyat, Laoac, around 1:00 a.m. on November 10. The infant was discovered by two students who immediately called for help upon hearing the baby’s faint cries. Responding authorities promptly rescued the child and brought him to a hospital in Urdaneta City, where doctors confirmed he was in stable condition.

Police investigators are now coordinating with barangay officials and health workers to identify the baby’s parents. Authorities vowed to file appropriate charges against whoever is responsible for abandoning the child.
