New 702nd brigade commander in Pangasinan assumes post
BRIGADIER General Ronald M. Bautista has officially assumed command of the 702nd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army at Camp Abat in Manaoag. He succeeded Colonel George M. Bergonia in a simple turnover ceremony held recently.
The event was attended by key military officials, including Major General Joseph Norwin D. Pasamonte, commander of the 7th Infantry Division (7ID), who presided over the change of command between the two officers.
Both Col. Bergonia and Brig. Gen. Bautista are members of the Philippine Military Academy “Marilag” Class of 1995.
Prior to his new post, Brig. Gen. Bautista served as Chief of Staff of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division. Col. Bergonia, on the other hand, was the Assistant Division Commander for Retirees and Reservists Affairs in the same division.
The change in leadership marks a significant step in the region’s ongoing military operations and strategic direction.
Local officials, led by Manaoag Mayor Jeremy Agerico Rosario, expressed their full support for the Philippine Army’s mission to safeguard communities. They also underscored the importance of strong cooperation between the military and local government units in maintaining peace and order. (Ahikam Pasion)
