Pangasinan hails young arnis champ in National LCUAA Games
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Pangasinan has passed a resolution commending Althea Kate Menzon of Urdaneta City for her outstanding performance in the 14th Local Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (LCUAA) National Games held in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
Menzon, a student-athlete from Urdaneta City University, captured two golds, one silver, and one bronze in various Arnis Anyo categories, making her among the top medalists in the tournament. She won gold in the Individual Women’s Single Weapon and Flyweight events, silver in the Sword and Dagger, and bronze in the Double Identical Weapon category.
Provincial officials lauded Menzon for bringing pride to Pangasinan and promoting Arnis, the National Martial Art of the Philippines. Her success, they said, highlights athletic excellence, cultural preservation, gender empowerment, and youth development.
Filed by Fifth District Board Member Rosalina Apaga, the resolution recognizes Menzon as an inspiration to young Pangasinenses, especially those pursuing traditional Filipino sports. (Eva Visperas)
