Police nurse helps deliver baby inside patrol car in San Jacinto
A police nurse successfully delivered a baby inside a patrol vehicle in the early hours of October 24, after a woman went into labor while being rushed to the hospital.
According to Police Major Napoleon Velasco, chief of the San Jacinto Municipal Police Station, a couple from Barangay Lobong, along with their two children, sought police assistance at around 4 a.m. when they were unable to secure an ambulance from the local government.
Responding officers PMSg Timmy Aivy Estayo, a licensed nurse, and Pat King Abe Manaois, who drove the patrol car, immediately assisted the family. After assessing the woman’s condition, Estayo advised that she be taken to the Mapandan Community Hospital.
However, while the team was passing through Barangay Guibel, the woman could no longer hold back the delivery.
With calm professionalism, PMSg Estayo helped the mother give birth right inside the moving patrol vehicle, successfully delivering a healthy baby girl.
The mother and her newborn were later brought to Mapandan Community Hospital, where both were reported to be in good condition.
This incident marks the second time that a woman has given birth inside a San Jacinto police patrol car, according to local authorities. (Ahikam Pasion)
