Mangaldan Integrated School gets hoax bomb threat
CLASSES at the Mangaldan Integrated School SPED were disrupted on October 13 as students were evacuated to the school gym following a bomb threat received via social media.
The threat was sent from a social media account under the name “Luis Bautista,” warning that an explosive device had been planted within the school premises.
Local authorities quickly responded to the scene, with the police conducting a clearing operation that lasted for over an hour.
Security personnel and bomb squads checked the entire school complex, including classrooms and common spaces, but found no explosive devices.
After the authorities gave the all-clear, students were allowed to return to their classrooms, and normal school activities resumed.
An investigation is ongoing to identify the individual behind the bomb threat and authorities warned that such an act has serious legal consequences. (Ahikam Pasion)
Private school in San Carlos City disrupted by bomb threat
CLASSES at Our Lady of Grace School in San Carlos City were suspended on October 14 for the entire day after the San Carlos City Police Station received a report of an alleged bomb threat the previous night.
P/Lt. Col. Zaldy Fuentes, chief of the San Carlos City Police, said that a woman reported a message she received via Facebook Messenger from a Grade 9 student. The message claimed that a bomb had been placed inside the school and would detonate at any moment. Upon receiving the report, the police took immediate action.
Fuentes requested a bomb squad from the Explosives and Ordnance Division (EOD), which promptly conducted a comprehensive inspection of the entire school.
Following the operation, no explosives were discovered, and the area was declared safe. As a precautionary measure, police presence was increased around the school to enhance security.
Fuentes said this incident is not linked to another bomb threat reported in Mangaldan town on the same day, and was considered an isolated case.
The police underscored that regardless of whether the message was intended as a joke, they take such threats very seriously to protect public safety, particularly students.
Authorities also urged parents to educate their children on the responsible use of social media, especially given the potential legal consequences of distributing false information and making threats. (Kim Gealogo)
