Villasis residents raise furor over beauty contest result

RESIDENTS of Villasis slammed online what they called unfair selection of candidates for the Miss Villasis contest for the town fiesta next year, questioning the criteria set as well as alleged violations of the guidelines.

Municipal officials brushed off the criticisms, saying the rules were disseminated as early as July 29, 2025 and that these are the same as last year’s. (Jam Victorio)

AICS beneficiaries report alleged irregularities

BENEFICIARIES of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) from Barangay Palamis in Alaminos City complained that each of them received not the full amount of P2,000 as indicated in the papers they signed from a certain party-list group last September  26.

They asked the 1st District Congressional Office to investigate the matter and determine how much each beneficiary really ought to receive. Meanwhile, officials of the City Social Welfare and Development Office advised the complainants to channel their grievances to them so that they can bring up the matter to the main office of the Department of Social Services and Development. 94,000 families affected by typhoons in Pangasinan—PDRRMO

SOME 94,000 families from 26 towns and cities of Pangasinan were affected by Super Typhoon Nando that enhanced heavy monsoon rains, causing widespread flooding, according to an updated report of the  Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

Calasiao worst affected by flood in 3rd district 

The 4,980 families or 17, 718 individuals affected by Super Typhoon Nando in Calasiao all received food packs from the municipal government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

Dagupan pushing for integrated master plan versus flood 

THE Dagupan Sangguniang Panlungsod again underscored the importance of coordination with other local government units like Binalonan, Urdaneta, Sta. Barbara, San Carlos, Calasiao, and Binmaley to address the problem of flooding.

The SP stressed the urgent need to craft an integrated master plan to ensure that the water flowing from the mountains down the Sinocalan River and other allied rivers is clean because fresh water, mixing with salt water to form brackish water, is the lifeblood of Dagupan’s bangus industry. Tourist spots reopen with improved weather 

WITH the improved weather conditions, several resorts and tourist spots in Bolinao and other parts of the province are again back in business.

Among those that reopened are the Bolinao Falls, which were temporarily closed due to strong current at the height of Super Typhoon Nando, and the  Dipalo Eco Park in San Quintin where, for several days, the water was not clear enough for swimming. (Jam Victorio)

Bugallon cemetery being readied for Undas

THE public cemetery of Bugallon is now being cleaned as part of preparations of the municipality for the coming Undas on November  1 to 2.

The early cleaning of the cemetery was ordered by the town mayor. There is also a need to drain some areas from standing water caused by several days of rain from typhoons and the southwest monsoon, and to demolish empty tombs that have virtually become eyesores in the cemetery. (Jam Victorio)
